Everyone enjoys the classic Mentos in diet coke experiment. Mentos Toss takes the classic project and turns it into a fun game guaranteed to entertain.
When a mentos hits the diet coke it release the carbonation which shoots the soda high into the air. This fun physics fact makes the mentos toss game such a fun and messy physics activity.
Supplies
- Lots of Mentos
- 3 – 2 liter bottle of Diet coke
- 3 – Funnels
- Hack saw for preparation
- roll of athletic tape
- Cones (optional)
Preparation
Use a saw to remove the base part of the funnel. You want the funnel to fit around the mouth of the bottle and fit as tightly as possible. Next, remove the cap of each bottle and secure the funnels around the outside of the bottles with athletic tape. Athletic tape works best for this activity because it can get wet without losing its stickiness, you can find it on amazon for an affordable price.
How to Play Mentos Toss
Once you have attached the funnel to the bottles set up them up in a line one about 2 feet behind the next. Then set a cone or marker 4-6 feet from the first bottle.
Have players stand behind the cone and toss the mentos towards the funnel. The goal is to make the mentos into the funnel. There will be no doubt when the player makes the mentos into the bottle. The coke will erupt from the bottle in a messy celebratory volcanic motion! Continue until all of your bottles have been activated.
