Rainbow Relay Race; A Color Game

A rainbow relay is a color themed active group game. Kids work together in a relay building a rainbow one color at a time. Use this relay to bulk up your color and shapes unit or for a fun St. Partricks day race.

Supplies

Construction paper in the following colors

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple

How to do a Rainbow Relay

Cut the construction paper into quarters.  (I recommend laminating the paper so you can reuse them)
Once you have at least two sets of all six colors you are ready to play.
Set out two cones per team
One cone is the start, and the other is a color hub.
Split the kinds into equal teams
On go the first person will run from the start cone down to the color hub, that person will then grab the first color of the rainbow (red), return to the team  and place it in a designated place. (I used a hula hoop)
Then player two will go down to the color hub, grab the second color (orange) then return to the team and place the color into a designated space.
This continues until the team has a complete set.
The first team to have all six colors placed in order Red to purple is the winner
